Strawberry Hill

park garden

Strawberry Hill rises as a natural knoll in the center of Golden Gate Park, distinct for occupying an entire island surrounded by the man-made waters of Stow Lake. Connected to the park mainland by two stone bridges, this prominence is named for the wild strawberries that once carpeted its slopes. Its most prominent features today include the trails that wind through dense trees and shrubbery to a summit clearing and the cascading waters of Huntington Falls, an artificial waterfall fed by the lake’s own supply.
