Coronet Theatre (San Francisco)

The Coronet Theatre once stood at three thousand five hundred seventy-five Geary Boulevard as a massive Streamline Moderne landmark. Designed by architects Cantin and Cantin and opened in nineteen forty-nine, the theater featured thirteen hundred fifty seats arranged in a distinctive stadium-style configuration. Its interior was defined by a large curved screen and a mural depicting a mythic figure, which served as a focal point for audiences who traveled to this corner of the Richmond District to see films in a grand, singular setting.
