Presidio Amatury Park sits on a stretch of land that was reconfigured to accommodate the infrastructure of the northern San Francisco peninsula. Its name is a variation of the Spanish term "amateur," and it serves as a neighborhood green space in the area bordering the Presidio. The park occupies a landscape created after portions of the roadway near the Presidio were placed into tunnels, a technique used to reclaim surface area for public use.
