The Denver Art Museum is identifiable by the Lanny and Sharon Martin Building, an eight-story structure encased in more than one million reflective glass tiles. Designed by Italian architect Gio Ponti and opened in nineteen seventy-one, it remains his only completed building in North America. The facade features vertical planes and varied geometric windows intended to shield the art inside while framing views of the city and mountains.
