Dooky Chase Restaurant is a corner brick building in the Tremé neighborhood, distinguished by its name written in a gothic font and an old-fashioned gas lamp by the front entrance. Established in nineteen thirty-nine, the business began as a small shop selling lottery tickets and po'boy sandwiches on Claiborne Avenue. In nineteen forty-one, founders Emile and Dooky Chase moved the operation to its current location at the corner of Orleans Avenue and North Miro Street.
