Brooklyn Bridge Park - Pier 1

park garden

Pier One is the largest of the park piers at nine and a half acres and stands out as the only one in Brooklyn Bridge Park constructed entirely on landfill rather than on a pile-supported structure. This solid foundation allows for the creation of rolling hills that rise up to twenty feet, forming the highest point in the park. Along the western edge, the Granite Prospect consists of a series of dramatic steps fashioned from over three hundred massive granite stones salvaged during the reconstruction of the Roosevelt Island Bridge.
