Gay Street is a short, crooked, one-block lane in the West Village that bends sharply enough to hide its own end from view. Linking Waverly Place to Christopher Street, this narrow passage features a distinct contrast in architecture: the west side is lined with Federal-style houses from the late eighteen twenties, while the east side holds Greek Revival homes built after the city widened the path in eighteen thirty-three.
