Three Bears Park

Three Bears Park, officially known as Delancey Park, is marked by a cast-concrete sculpture of three bears standing near its entrance. Created in nineteen sixty-six by sculptor Joseph Winter, these figures quickly became the defining feature of the site. They are small enough for children to climb, and generations of neighborhood families have smoothed their surfaces and covered them in chalk, cementing the informal name that eventually replaced the park’s original title in daily speech.
