Amir Temur Mausoleum Gur-i Amir Сomplex

The Gur-i-Amir Mausoleum is identifiable by its towering, ribbed azure dome, which rises in brilliant blue and turquoise tiles above the streets of Samarkand. While the site is now celebrated as the final resting place of the Turco-Mongol conqueror Timur, it was never intended to house him. Construction began in fourteen oh three as a memorial for Timur's favorite grandson and heir, Muhammad Sultan, who died unexpectedly while on a military campaign.
