The Sydney Eye Hospital is recognized by the sprawling, modern clinical building that sits alongside the historic architecture of the Macquarie Street campus. While the eye hospital itself was established in eighteen eighty-two at Millers Point, it eventually moved to this site in nineteen ninety-six to reunite with the broader Sydney Hospital. This campus originated with the arrival of the First Fleet in seventeen eighty-eight, when medical care began in primitive tents at Dawes Point before moving to this permanent location in eighteen eleven.
