West Terrace Cemetery is distinguished by rows of nineteenth-century marble and slate headstones spread across twenty-seven hectares of Adelaide’s parklands. Identified in Colonel William Light’s eighteen thirty-seven plan for the city, it stands as South Australia’s oldest operating cemetery. Over one hundred and fifty thousand people are buried here, including early pioneers, politicians, and social figures whose lives shaped the state.
