Light Square, or Wauwi by its Kaurna name, is one of the six public squares laid out in the eighteen thirty-seven city plan by Colonel William Light. It is distinguished by an eleven-meter-high memorial that stands over the grave of Light himself. This monument, unveiled in nineteen oh five, features a bronze tripod holding a theodolite, the instrument Light used to survey the city.
