Adelaide Oval is recognizable by the distinctive horseshoe shape of its grandstands, which leave an open gap at the northern end. This design choice maintains a view of the parklands and keeps the historic grassy mound, ancient Moreton Bay fig trees, and the Edwardian-style scoreboard visible as part of the stadium's character. Established in eighteen seventy-one, the ground originally served as a cricket field before expanding to host a variety of sports and major events.
