Two massive, polished stainless steel spheres, stacked one directly atop the other to reach a height of four meters, define this landmark. Officially titled The Spheres and created by Vienna-born artist Bert Flugelman, this sculpture is known to everyone in Adelaide as the Mall's Balls. It was donated by the Hindmarsh Building Society in nineteen seventy-seven to commemorate the society's centenary and the recent pedestrianization of this shopping strip.
