The Adelaide Botanic Garden covers fifty-one hectares on the northeastern edge of the city. You can identify the grounds by the massive, curved Bicentennial Conservatory, which stands as the largest single-span glasshouse in the Southern Hemisphere. Established in eighteen fifty-five under the direction of horticulturalist George William Francis, the site officially opened to the public on October fourth, eighteen fifty-seven.
