The Mitchell Building is defined by its Gothic Revival style and a projecting entrance porch with carved stone ornamentation. Completed in eighteen eighty-two as the original home of the University of Adelaide, this sandstone structure served as the entire campus for its first two decades. Within its walls, professors once held offices, the university library operated, and the governing council met to chart the institution's future.
