South Australian Museum

The South Australian Museum is defined by a collection of buildings on North Terrace, including the nineteenth-century Jervois Wing and a North Wing that was originally intended to be a temporary structure when it opened in eighteen ninety-five. Founded in eighteen fifty-six, the institution began in rented rooms on King William Street before moving to this site. It holds over five million objects and specimens, representing one of Australia's most significant scientific and natural history collections.
