The building of the Bulgarian National Bank is marked by four heavy entrance doors covered in dark green patinated bronze, each featuring relief motifs taken from thirteenth-century seals and coins of Bulgarian rulers. Designed by architects Ivan Vasilyov and Dimitar Tsolov, the structure was built between nineteen thirty-four and nineteen thirty-nine. It commands the corner of Knyaz Alexander the First Square with a distinct U-shaped profile that purposefully leaves space for the neighboring fifteenth-century mosque, now the Archaeological Museum.
