The Doctor's Monument stands at the center of this park, identified by the names of the battles of Pleven, Plovdiv, Mechka, and Shipka inscribed on its stone faces. Constructed between eighteen eighty-three and eighteen eighty-four, this memorial honors the doctors, nurses, and medical staff from the Russian Red Cross who died during the Russo-Turkish War. The park was designed around this central monument by Antoniy Tomishko, a Russian architect of Czech origin.
