The National Assembly building is a bright white, Neo-Renaissance structure with a symmetrical facade and arched windows. You can find its image on the reverse side of the Bulgarian twenty leva banknote. It was designed by the architect Konstantin Jovanović and constructed between eighteen eighty-four and eighteen eighty-six. At the time of its completion, it stood on the outskirts of the developing capital, though it now sits in the busy center of the city.
