The Regional History Museum of Sofia is recognizable by the vibrant, colorful facade and intricate architecture of its building, which was originally constructed as the Central Mineral Bathhouse in nineteen thirteen. This structure blends Neo-Byzantine, Neo-Baroque, and Neo-Renaissance styles, serving today as the primary institution for documenting eight thousand years of the city’s history. You can still see a fountain outside the building where mineral water flows from the same thermal springs that once fed the active bathhouse.
