Roy Thomson Hall is defined by its dramatic, drum-shaped glass canopy that encases a circular auditorium. Designed by architect Arthur Erickson and opened in nineteen eighty-two, this concert hall sits on a site with a long, layered history. Before the music began here, the ground held the residence of the Lieutenant-Governor of Ontario, and later, a large freight building operated by the Canadian Pacific Railway.
