Bokar Tower

Bokar Tower is a rounded, two-story stone bastion that juts out from the southwestern corner of the Dubrovnik city walls, appearing to hover above the Adriatic Sea. Its masonry rests partly on a detached rock, requiring arched supports to bridge the gap and bind it into the city's western defenses. Designed by the Florentine architect Michelozzo di Bartolomeo, construction began in fourteen sixty-one to provide a high-tech solution for guarding the Pile Gate, the primary western entrance to the city.
