Stradun

The limestone pavement of Stradun reflects the light with a signature glossy shine, a result of millions of footsteps polishing the stone over many centuries. This three hundred meter thoroughfare stretches through the center of the Old Town, connecting the western Pile Gate to the eastern side of the city near the bell tower. Long before it became a famous promenade, the site was a marshy channel that separated two early settlements. In the thirteenth century, the channel was filled in to create this unified urban space.
