Fountain Amphorae

The city of Split relies on a water supply that traces its path back to an aqueduct built by the Roman Emperor Diocletian. Across the city, this water flows into numerous public fountains, which remain a standard feature of the urban landscape. These fountains provide cold, clean water from the Jadro river source near the nearby town of Solin, a route that has been in use since ancient times and underwent significant renovations in the late eighteen eighties.
