Jazzhus Montmartre is identified by its original home at Store Regnegade nineteen, where it first opened its doors on February seventeen, nineteen fifty-nine. This intimate venue, designed to accommodate only eighty-five people, gained international fame throughout the nineteen sixties and seventies. It became a second home for American jazz musicians including Dexter Gordon, Ben Webster, Stan Getz, Kenny Drew, and Bud Powell, many of whom moved across the Atlantic to settle in Copenhagen specifically because of the club.
