The Musée Hébert occupies the eighteenth-century hôtel de Montmorency-Bours at eighty-five rue du Cherche-Midi. This building, constructed in seventeen forty-three, served as the residence and studio for the French academic painter Ernest Hébert. Known for his portraits of high society during the Second Empire and the Third Republic, Hébert also famously directed the Academy of France in Rome.
