Statue of Marshal Joseph Joffre

The equestrian statue of Marshal Joseph Joffre stands on Place Joffre, positioned between the Champ de Mars and the École Militaire. This bronze sculpture depicts the French general who led the army during the early years of the First World War, including the pivotal Battle of the Marne in nineteen fourteen. Inaugurated on June tenth, nineteen thirty-nine, the monument features the marshal mounted on horseback, with his likeness carved by sculptor Maxime Real del Sarte.
