The Symbolic Globe sits on the piazza at the headquarters of UNESCO at place de Fontenoy. This minimal structure, fifteen meters in diameter, is formed of aluminum and acts as a focal point among the rows of international flags. It was designed by the Danish structural engineer Erik Reitzel to be easily assembled, dismantled, and transported, reflecting its purpose as a communal project.
