Armenian Cathedral of St. John the Baptist

The Armenian Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist occupies a site on Rue Jean-Goujon that was once home to the Bazar de la Charité, a charitable bazaar destroyed by a catastrophic fire in eighteen ninety-seven. Today, the cathedral is distinguished by a dome set on a drum and a bell tower that rises above the surrounding buildings in the eighth arrondissement. Designed by architect Albert Guilbert, the structure features Oriental-inspired elements that draw from the architecture of the Etchmiadzin Cathedral in Armenia.
