Kunibertstürmchen

The Kunibertstürmchen is a small, circular medieval tower that stands near the Rhine at the Konrad-Adenauer-Ufer. Once part of an extensive defensive system that included the larger Kunibertsturm and a riverfront fortification called the Ark, this structure is the only piece of that complex to survive today. It was built as a defensive point on the northern edge of the medieval city wall and remained connected to other fortifications by a high wall and a walkway until the nineteenth century.
