Trigonion Tower

The Trigonion Tower is a powerful, cylindrical fort that anchors the northeastern corner where Thessaloniki’s historic city walls change direction. Its profile, which reaches about seventy-two feet in height, stands apart from the square and rectangular defensive towers of the earlier Byzantine era. A distinct horizontal stone relief circles its midsection, earning the structure historical names like the Belted Tower or Chain Tower.
