Kapani Market

Kapani Market is the oldest traditional marketplace in Thessaloniki, recognizable by its network of narrow, bustling pedestrian alleys protected by metal-covered roofs. Located in the city center between Egnatia, Aristotelous, Ermou, and Venizelou streets, it has functioned as a core commercial zone since the fifteenth century. Its name, Kapani, derives from the Turkish phrase "Un Kapan," meaning flour market, reflecting its origins as a grain trading hub during the Ottoman era.
