Alexander the Great Statue

The bronze equestrian monument of Alexander the Great rises eleven meters high along the waterfront of Thessaloniki, making it the tallest statue in Greece. It shows the Macedonian king mounted on his legendary horse, Bucephalus, with the pair facing east toward the dawn. The bronze figure itself stands over six meters tall, resting upon a pedestal of dark marble from the village of Melissochori and white marble from Veria.
