Aristotelous Square

Aristotelous Square opens as a wide, marble-paved rectangle that stretches from the waterfront at Nikis Avenue toward the upper city. It is framed by twelve listed buildings characterized by ground-floor arcades and curved facades that bow toward the sea. This grand plaza serves as the monumental center of Thessaloniki, built to replace the narrow, unplanned streets of the Ottoman era that were leveled by a devastating fire in nineteen-seventeen.
