Royal Theatre of Thessaloniki

The Royal Theatre of Thessaloniki sits on the waterfront near the White Tower, its exterior defined by clean, geometric lines and a modern, imposing post-war aesthetic. Designed by the architect Konstantinos Doxiadis, the original structure was completed in nineteen forty and inaugurated that July with a production of Shakespeare's Richard the Third. While it was initially intended as a summer stage, it was soon converted to a winter venue.
