The Holocaust Memorial in Thessaloniki stands in Eleftherias Square, recognizable by its bronze sculpture of a seven-branched menorah with flames that appear to engulf human bodies. Created by the Serbian Jewish sculptor Nandor Glid, this monument commemorates the fifty thousand Greek Jews from Thessaloniki who were deported and killed in Nazi concentration camps during the spring of nineteen forty-three.
