Tsinari tavern

The Tsinari tavern is recognizable by its blue, multipaned windows and its location on a small, sloped street in the Ano Poli district. This building dates to eighteen eighty-five and stands as a rare survivor of the fire that destroyed much of Thessaloniki in nineteen seventeen. Its name comes from the Turkish word for plane tree, referencing a tree that once shaded a nearby Ottoman fountain.
