Jalasen Ghat, also known as Jalasayi Ghat, is a stretch of stone steps situated immediately beside the cremation pyres of Manikarnika Ghat. The name Jalasayi derives from a folk legend claiming that Lord Shiva sleeps in the deep waters of the Ganges at this specific location. Historically, the ghat was referred to as Mokshadvareshvara, or the Lord of the Gateway to Liberation, in a seventeenth-century text.
