Narad Ghat, (Varanasi)

Narad Ghat is distinguished by its long, wide stone steps constructed from Chunar sandstone, which lead directly into the Ganges. Formerly known as Kuvai Ghat, it was renamed in the nineteenth century when the nearby Naradeshwara temple was renovated. The current structure of the ghat largely dates back to seventeen eighty-eight, when it was built by a South Indian monastery chief named Svami Sativedananda Dattatreya.
