Assi Ghat occupies the southernmost end of the riverfront in Varanasi, marking the traditional boundary where the Assi River meets the Ganges. It is a wide, stone-stepped embankment recognized by the presence of a sacred peepal tree, which shelters a Shivalinga frequently visited by devotees for daily prayer.
