The Panchayati Akhara Shri Niranjani in the Shivala neighborhood of Varanasi is identifiable as a prominent monastery of the Naga sect of ascetics, located at house number B three slash one hundred fifty-five. An inscription confirms that this site was established as an akhara in eighteen ninety-seven. Before that year, the property was part of the royal compound belonging to Raja Chet Singh, who eventually donated the land to the Naga mendicants.
