Kedar ghat

Kedar Ghat is easily picked out by the bright red-and-white striped walls of the Kedareshwar Temple that rises above the riverfront. This is one of the oldest and most revered sites along the Ganges in Varanasi, drawing pilgrims who seek the spiritual benefits of the Himalayan shrine of Kedarnath without making the long mountain journey. Many consider a visit here to be a symbolic equivalent to that distant trek, earning it a long history of devotion from travelers coming from across India, particularly those from the southern regions.
