Lolark Kund

Lolark Kund is a rectangular stepped tank that sits deep below ground level, recognizable by the three steep flights of stone stairs that descend toward its pool. The site is named for the Sun God, Surya, and translates to trembling sun, a reference to the way the sun’s reflection is said to waver on the water’s surface. It is among the oldest sacred sites in Varanasi, mentioned in the ancient Skanda Purana.
