The Sri Anandamayi Ashram stands along the banks of the Ganges in the Shivala neighborhood of Varanasi. It is marked by a riverside setting that includes the Ananda Jyoti Mandir, a temple consecrated in nineteen sixty-eight. The site was established in nineteen forty-five through the efforts of Gurupriya Devi, a devoted disciple of the twentieth-century saint Anandamayi Ma.
