Ahilyabai Ghat features a grand palace and residential compound, highlighted by a gateway with a traditional drum house known as a noubat-khana. It holds the distinction of being the first ghat in Varanasi to be named after an individual. Queen Ahilyabai Holkar of Indore, a prominent ruler of the Maratha Empire, commissioned this structure in seventeen seventy-eight on the site of an earlier landing called Kevalagiri Ghat.
