הבית השרוף - The Burnt House

museum

The Burnt House is distinguished by the layers of thick ash, scorched masonry, and charred wooden beams that remain exactly as they were nearly two thousand years ago. Excavated six meters below the modern street level in the Jewish Quarter, this site preserves the basement rooms of a wealthy residence destroyed during the Roman conquest of Jerusalem in seventy CE.
