Zohorei Chama Synagogue

The Zohorei Chama Synagogue is defined by the massive, sixteen-foot sundial mounted prominently on its Jaffa Road facade. This four-story stone structure, often called the Sundial Building or the Mahane Yehuda Clock Tower, rises above its surroundings with a design centered on precise timekeeping. Rabbi Shmuel Levy, an immigrant from the United States, constructed the building in stages between nineteen oh eight and nineteen seventeen to serve as a hostel for immigrants and a prayer space.
