Little Western Wall

historic

The Little Western Wall is an eight-meter stretch of exposed masonry tucked into a narrow residential alleyway in the Muslim Quarter of the Old City. Unlike the vast, open plaza of the main Western Wall, this section is compressed within the courtyard of the Ribat al-Kurd, a thirteenth-century hospice for pilgrims. Only the two lowest courses of stone date back to the construction of the Temple Mount retaining walls by Herod the Great in the first century BCE.
