The Supportico Sant'Andrea is a covered passageway tucked into the dense, vertical fabric of Amalfi. It is characterized by its narrow, vaulted stone ceiling that creates a low-light transition between the open air of the city and its hidden interior paths. These covered passages, or sottoportici, were essential to the medieval urban layout, allowing the town to expand upwards and over its own streets as space became scarce against the steep cliffs.
